Potato growers know that many of the season’s biggest challenges begin below the soil surface. Soilborne disease pressure, uneven crop establishment, limited root development, and declining field performance can all influence crop quality and marketable production.
This October, I look forward to discussing these challenges with growers from around the world at the 13th World Potato Congress, taking place October 26 through 30 in Naivasha, Kenya. This year’s Congress is especially meaningful because it will be the first held in East Africa, bringing the event back to the African continent for the first time since 1997.
TriCal Group is proud to participate as the Main Planting Partner and a Bronze Sponsor. For us, being part of WPC 2026 is not simply about attending a global event. It is an opportunity to listen to growers, understand the conditions they face, and share research and practical approaches that support healthier soils and more productive potato systems.
I will present “Improving Soil Health through Functional System Recovery,” which explores how growers can address soil constraints while also supporting crop and soil recovery. Soil health is not only about what is present in the soil. It is also about whether that soil can support strong roots, efficient resource use, crop establishment, and marketable production.
I invite growers to visit the TriCal Group team at Stand #20. We welcome conversations about soilborne disease management, soil fumigation, field variability, crop establishment, and the factors that may be limiting performance in your fields.
As the Main Planting Partner, TriCal Group will also participate in the Farmers Field Day, where growers can see demonstration plots, production practices, and agricultural technologies under field conditions.
We are grateful to be part of this important event and look forward to meeting growers, researchers, and industry partners in Kenya.
