STRIKE™ products are used for pre-plant soil pest management and disease control. Commonly, fumigation takes place two to five weeks prior to planting. In crop production areas with a winter freeze, soil fumigation can be conducted in the fall prior to a spring planting. Fumigation with Strike formulations allow plant roots to develop in soil with reduced pest populations, resulting in healthier root systems, stronger early-season plant growth, longer harvest windows, and better utilization of water and nutrients.
Historically, farmers have relied on soil fumigation for the success of their crops. Strike fumigants do not “sterilize” the soil. Populations of beneficial organisms often increase and thrive, while still suppressing the damaging pathogens that could negatively impact crop yield.
Soil fumigation with STRIKE™:
- Suppresses soil-borne Diseases
- Potentially reduces the amounts of other pesticides that are needed
- Makes nitrogen, water and other nutrients more available to plants through improved uptake in the healthier root system
- Allows plants to grow to their maximum potential and productivity
- Capitalizes on production efficiency and economic return
The North American farmer needs soil fumigation to compete in today’s global marketplace thus protecting the quality and safety of our food supply.
STRIKE™ products are metabolized by soil microorganisms into beneficial nutrients, which are then metabolized by the plants promoting healthy growth. Currently in the world there is much pressure on resources which demands more efficient farming practices. The logical choice is to maximize the utility agriculture products while reducing societal impact. Fumigation with Strike products requires minor changes in cultural practice while providing maximum benefits to the growers for production efficiency. Strike applied with attention to product stewardship breaks down in the soil eliminating detrimental pathogens and allows the soil to provide the healthiest environment promoting healthy root and plant growth.
Does not have a significant ecological footprint. In fact, independent analysis determined that STRIKE™ products have a negative carbon footprint
Does not deplete the ozone layer
Does not leave residue in plant tissue or harvested produce and vegetables
Does not kill beneficial soil fungi and bacteria such as Trichoderma, which help to improve soil structure, tillage and water penetration
